ASME Section VIII Consulting
Eclipse is very experienced with applying analytical techniques such as FEA and CFD to the ASME Section VIII, Divisions 1 & 2 Codes. Sometimes the design of a component is not explicitly covered by the Code, but still must meet the design philosophy of the Code per U-2(g) and requirements of UG-23. Thanks to our extensive experience on the shop floor as well as on the computer, fabricators have never had a problem building an Eclipse design. We provide a complete set of calculations for the Authorized Inspector (AI); of the many hundreds of calculations we've provided, none have been rejected. Our experience translates into quicker turn-arounds, attractive pricing, and fewer problems.
Some projects with challenging criteria that we have successfully dealt with include:
General
- Shop handling (lifting, rigging, etc.)
- Wind and seismic loading
- Fatigue analysis
- Differential thermal expansion
- Forensic analysis
- Weld analysis
Coal-Fired
- Primary structural system ("non-building structure")
- Economizers
- Headers and header supports
- Tube defect analysis
- Serpentine straps (fabricated and cast)
- D-links and alignment lugs
- Support blocks, stools, and ladders
- Vibration bars
- Stringer supports
- Thermal expansion and related tube supports
